Our environmentally conscious complex continues to be a trailblazer in energy and water efficiency. In fact, 2011 weighed in with the lowest electricity use in the history of Commerce Court – a 7% (4 million kilowatt hour) reduction from 2010. Preliminary data from our Washroom Fixture Upgrade project shows that we are achieving a 50% daily reduction in water use in the complex over a comparable period from last year.
Commerce Court has just submitted all required documentation to attain LEED: Existing Building Gold Certification, and we anticipate achieving official certification status later this year. We thank all our tenants for their assistance and support during this process and will fill you in with more details about the program shortly. Stay Tuned!

Attention sports fans – and everyone who supports worthy causes. Bundle up and head out to the corner of King and Bay for a preview of September’s main event: Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer. This annual dawn-to-dusk fundraiser benefiting The Princess Margaret Hospital and the Canadian Cancer Society raised over $2.4 million in 2011.
Thanks to all the generous spirits at Commerce Court who participated in the PATH Clothing Drive in support of The Yonge Street Mission. Collectively, our underground community were successful, and even outdid our great numbers from last year. Your donations assist the Yonge Street Mission’s Double Take thrift store in providing those less fortunate with affordable interview and career clothing, training and employment, and a place to gain practical retail experience.
Through this annual “clean out your closet” event, you are also being kind to the environment by recycling your gently used wares. Well done!
